No Grammy Award for The Beatles despite 10 nominations

In February 1966, the Grammy Awards Committee announced the nominees for the 8th Annual Grammy Awards. The Beatles received ten nominations, six for the song “Yesterday” and four for the album “Help!“. 

However, at the ceremony held on this day, they failed to win any of those awards.

The following day, Capitol Records’ president Alan Livingston issued a protest that “Yesterday” had been denied the “Song Of The Year” award. “It makes a mockery of the whole event,” he complained.

The following year, The Beatles won three awards.
