In February, it was announced that UK tour was delayed till May, to allow Paul McCartney to shoot the TV special “James Paul McCartney”.
Tuesday February 27 In a small, low key, brief press conference today during the taping of James Paul McCartney, Paul announces to the press: “I am to stage my first tour of Britain with my new group Wings, during two weeks in May. We will visit twelve large towns.”

ONE confesses to a certain puzzlement concerning the current Great Britain tour by Paul McCartney’s Wings. It’s an extended stint through England, Scotland and Wales. But not Ireland.
Yet Paul appears to have more than a passing interest in this country. You may remember he released a single last year advising “Give Ireland Back to the Irish.”
One of his band, lead guitarist Henry McCullough, actually comes from Portstewart. It’s rather a pity Paul didn’t think of giving the Irish back to Ireland and so let fans here see Wings in action.
Wings’ press office were unable to explain why Ireland, either North of South, is not on the band’s itinerary. It may or yet again may not. have something to do with the fees the band would be paid here.

Wings’ concert grounded
PAUL McCartney’s group Wings will not be appearing at the Hammersmith Odeon on April 13 and 14 as previously announced.
A spokesman for the group said this week that the dates had been announced prematurely and the concerts will not take place. But he added that Wings will be appearing at the Hammersmith Odeon sometime in the future although no definite date has yet been fixed.
In the meantime, there is plenty happening live at the Odeon over the next couple of months.
Jazz man Stan Kenton and his orchestra appear there on February 17. They are followed on March 9 by the Temptations, the American Motown male vocal group always guaranteed to provide an exciting evening.
The Supremes, former vocal backing group to Diana Ross, are at the Odeon on March 23, and on May 11, 13 and 14 Neil Young appears there.
Young whose record Harvest was voted top album last year, is at present on his own after splitting with his group Crazy Horse. It is rumoured that he may rejoin Crosby, Stills and Nash – the group where Young really made a name for himself.

Paul to play at the Empire
Former Beatle, Paul McCartney, is to return to Liverpool for four shows at the Empire Theatre with his group Wings, next year, writes Peter Trollope.
The provisional dates booked are April 2 and 3, when the group will play two shows each evening.
A spokesman for Paul told me today: “We have only just completed details of the tour, but it is true that the band will be playing four dates at the Empire.
“Paul is very excited at the prospect of playing in Liverpool. His relations still live locally, and he will be able to call in and see them, so naturally he is very pleased.
“He has been waiting for a long time to appear back in Liverpool, and the rest of the group are really looking forward to playing there.”
It will be the first time any of the former Beatles have appeared live in the city since the group broke up.
Mr. Terry Jones, manager of the Empire Theatre. said to-day: “We are delighted to be having Paul here. It will probably be one of the highlights of the year, and I am sure all the shows will be sold out.”
The band’s current single is at present No.4 in the Merseyside record charts.

Paul delays Wings’ tour, new album due
PAUL MCCARTNEY’S Wings tour, due to have started on March 25 in Bristol, has been postponed a month so that Paul and Linda can complete work on their ATV special.
Dave Golding, McCartney’s new press man, told Disc this week: “The dates come too close to the show, so they’ve had to be pushed back, somebody’s jumped the gun.”
The TV show – recently anounced in Disc – goes into production in late February and will be produced by American Gary Smith, best known for his work with Burt Bachrach.
