In January 1997, four months before the official release of “Flaming Pie“, Capitol Records put out a 6-track sampler tape distributed only to a small number of Capitol executives. A 3-track sampler tape was created out of it, limited to 30 copies distributed to some Capitol Records executives. Some of the tracks available on those tapes featured different mixes than on the album.
The 3-track sampler tape was titled “Paul McCartney – 3 song sampler” as the name for the album had not been chosen yet.
