It was an honor and a dream come true to work with Sir Paul McCartney on My Valentine. Thank you so much for producing this song that was masterfully arranged by Nicholas Jacobson-Larson.
Michael Bublé – From Michael Bublé on Twitter, February 11, 2022
From Michael Bublé (michaelbuble.com), January 28, 2022:
Today, Michael announces the upcoming release of his 11th studio album, HIGHER, out March 25th. The first single, ‘I’ll Never Not Love You’ is out now!
Produced by Greg Wells and Bob Rock along with Alan Chang, Jason ‘Spicy G’ Goldman and Sir Paul McCartney, HIGHER is Michael’s first studio album in three years.
Standouts on the new album include a duet with Willie Nelson of his song “Crazy”, a version of the Paul McCartney penned song, “My Valentine”, the Bob Dylan Classic “Make You Feel My Love,” and Sam Cooke’s “Bring It On Home To Me”, plus three new original tracks.
Michael comments, “This time out, I opened myself up completely to trying new things. I dug deeper while working and surrounding myself with the greatest music makers on the planet with gigantic imaginations. Whether it was sitting down to write with Ryan Tedder and Greg Wells, recording three songs in one day with Bob Rock along with 40 of the most amazing musicians off the studio floor who hadn’t played music in 15 months, dancing around laughing and crying in my underwear in my home studio when a song sounded just right, every moment felt magical or that the universe was conspiring to bring me to this moment in time 20 years into this amazing ride I’ve been on. I have never been more excited after completing an album.”
With Valentines Day approaching I’d like to turn you on to a great version of ‘My Valentine’ by Michael Bublé. I was lucky to be at one of the recording sessions in New York when he sang it and I think he did a really good job of it so make sure you check it out. Cheers Paul
Paul McCartney – From Facebook – February 11, 2022
I put together this demo and send it to (McCartney’s reps). I was driving down Sunset. And this +44 number came up and I said, ‘Hello.’ And this beautiful voice said, ‘Hi, it’s Paul Mac.’ And I said, ‘Hey, it’s Mike Bube.’ But it was so cool. And he’s so, he’s everything that you hope, and you wish that he could be. (He’s) a genius, man. He’s a wonderful musician. It was he was just awesome working with him. You just learn a ton.
Michael Bublé – From Billboard, February 22, 2022
Working with Paul McCartney on your version of his 2012 song “My Valentine” had to be a career highlight.
He is the most famous, maybe the greatest – truly – musician on the planet. When we talk about equals, is it Mozart? Beethoven? And so normal. So unaffected. So kind and humble and easygoing. When I got the message from him saying, I understand you’re working on a record and there’s a song that’s really special to me and I think you could really do this song justice, I was just really happy that I was on his radar. I made sure to convey to Paul that I didn’t want Paul to work on the song with me for what he’s done. I wanted to work with Sir Paul McCartney for all the things he can do. He is who we think he is. He is a masterful musician who has the ability – not only musically – to lift people up.
