Up and Coming Tracks: Live 2009-2010

1-2 – Saturday April 4, 2009 – Change Begins Within Benefit Concert, in the Radio City Music Hall, in New York. Both Ringo and Paul play short sets. At the end of Paul’s set he announces Billy Shears, and Ringo appears to sing ‘With a Little Help From My Friends’ with Paul on the same microphone. Then they bring ‘Cosmically Conscious’ and ‘I Saw Her Standing There’, with Ringo on drums.
3-5 – Friday April 17, 2009 – Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, in Indio, California. Paul and his band are the main act of the first day of the four day festival. They add three songs to their act, especially for the occasion: ‘Got to Get You Into My Life’, ‘Honey Hush’ and ‘ Birthday’ (as first encore). This is followed by: ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’.
6 – Saturday June 27, 2009 – Neil Young is the main act on the Hard Rock Calling Festival in Hyde Park, London. As last song he plays ‘A Day In The Life’, when suddenly Paul appears to sing his part.
7 – Saturday July 11, 2009 – Paul performs for the first time ever in Halifax Commons, Nova Scottia. It’s his only concert in Canada that Summer. He is joined by the local 78th Highlanders Pipe Band for a special treat: ‘Mull of Kintyre’.
8 – Wednesday July 15, 2009 – Paul performance atop the marquee at The Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City, for The Late Show With David Letterman. From the seven songs we only get ‘Coming Up’.
9 – Saturday August 1, 2009 – Summer Live ’09 tour in FedExField, the stadion of the Washington Redskins, in Landrover, DC. Paul adds ‘Michelle’ to the setlist, dedicated to the wife of the president, Barack Obama.
10 – Wednesday August 19, 2009 – final show of the Summer Live ’09 tour, in the Cowboy Stadium, Arlingto, TX. ‘It’s So Easy (To Fall In Love)’ is dedicated to Buddy Holly.
11 – Monday October 26, 2009 – Chance and Chemistry ¬ A Centennial Celebration of the Music of Frank Loesser is a benefit for the Actors Fund of America, in the Minskoff Theatre in New York. Paul sings the Loesser song: ‘On A Slow Boat To China’.
12-13 – Wednesday December 2, 2009 – start of the Good Evening Europe Tour, in the Color Line Arena, Hamburg, Germany. The setlist is largely the same as the previous tour, but ‘Calico Skies’ and ‘I Saw Her Standing There’ are replaced with ‘(I Want To) Come Home’ and ‘Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da’.
14 – Wednesday December 9, 2009 – excellent show in the Gelredome, in Arnhem, The Netherlands, with an extended piano version of ‘A Day In The Life’.
15-16 – Thursday December 10, 2009 – ‘And I Love Her’ and a one-off ‘Michelle’, from the Palais Omnisport de Paris, in Bercy, France.
17 – Wednesday December 16, 2009 – another special treat: ‘Wonderful Christmastime’, as first encore in the Lanxess Arena, in Köln, Germany

CD 2

1-2 – Sunday December 20, 2009 – The O2 Arena in Dublin, Ireland. Another performance of ‘Wonderful Christmastime’ and the ukulele version of ‘Something’ is introduced by George Formby’s ‘Leaning On A Lampost’.
3- 5 Tuesday December 22, 2009 – Final show of the Good Evening Europe Tour, in the O2 Arena in London. The 23 000 tickets were sold out in four seconds! Three songs: ‘(I Want To) Come Home’, ‘’Wonderful Christmastime’ and ‘Mull Of Kintyre’.
6 – Sunday March 28, 2010 – start of the Up and Coming Tour , in the Jobing.com Arena, in Glendale, Arizona. The only performance of ‘ Every Night’ during this tour.
7-15 – Friday May 28, 2010 – a large part of the second show in the Foro Sol, Mexico City, Mexico.

CD 3

1-2 – Wednesday June 2, 2010 – Paul is awarded the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. The ceremony is in the East Room of The White House, Washington. Paul brings Paul ‘Michelle’, ‘Eleanor Rigby’ and ‘Let It Be’. Then ‘Ebony And Ivory’ with Stevie Wonder and finally ‘Hey Jude’.
3 – Monday, June 1, 2010 – the day before. The Loma Mar Quartet plays a selection of McCartney compositions on vintage instruments in the Library of Congress, Washington. Paul attends and sings ‘Yesterday’ with them.
4 – Sunday, June 20, 2010 – for the first time in 20 years, Paul plays in Scotland: in Hampden Park, Glasgow. ‘Honey Don’t’ is from the soundcheck.
5 – Saturday, June26; 2010 – the last time Paul played in Wales was 35 years ago. ‘Celebration’ is from the soundcheck in the Millenium Stadium, Cardiff.
6-9 – Four songs from Hard Rock Calling, Hyde Park, London, Sunday, June 27, 2010: ‘I’m Looking Through You’, ‘Two Of Us’, ‘Tequila’ and the live debut of ‘Ram On’.
10 – Wednesday, July 7, 2010 – Ringo celebrates his 70th birthday in the Radio City Music Hall, in New York, NY. At the end of the shows, the lights go down and then appears Paul, to play ‘Birthday’ with the All-Starr Band and Ringo on drums.
11-12 – Sunday, July 11, 2010 – Paul plays AT&T Park, San Francisco. ‘Do You Know The Way To San Jose?’ is from the soundcheck, ‘San Francisco Bay Blues’ from the show.
13 – Five songs from a rehearsal in Mexico, probably from May 2009.
