Cyril Reuben was a British musician known for playing the saxophone, bass clarinet, and clarinet. He performed with dance bands, including appearances with Jack Parnell & His Orchestra and Geraldo And His Orchestra, and played in orchestras that backed stars like Frank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli, and Shirley Bassey.
On July 5, 1968, he participated in a Beatles recording session, playing the saxophone on Paul McCartney’s “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da.”
However, Paul McCartney decided to remake the song, resulting in Cyril Reuben’s part being omitted from the White Album’s released version. The version featuring his performance was eventually released on “Anthology 3” in 1996.
Cyril Reuben was invited back on July 11 to re-record his part, and this version was included in the White Album’s final release.
