On July 28, 1968, Don McCullin was commissioned to photograph the Beatles. The photo session, conducted at various London sites, is famously referred to as “The Mad Day Out”. This session produced many well-known images of the band, including the gatefold sleeve photo from the Red and Blue compilations, which shows the Beatles blending with onlookers through the cemetery railings.
The images captured on this day were published in the 2010 book “A Day in the Life of the Beatles.”
