Taylor Alison Swift (born December 13, 1989) is an American singer-songwriter. Raised in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, Swift moved to Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 14 to pursue a career in country music. She signed with the independent label Big Machine Records and became the youngest songwriter ever hired by the Sony/ATV Music publishing house. The release of Swift’s self-titled debut album in 2006 established her as a country music star. Her third single, “Our Song,” made her the youngest person to single-handedly write and perform a number-one song on the Hot Country Songs chart. She received a Best New Artist nomination at the2008 Grammy Awards.
Swift’s second album, Fearless, was released in 2008. Buoyed by the pop crossover success of the singles “Love Story” and “You Belong with Me,” Fearless became the best-selling album of 2009 in the United States. The album won four Grammy Awards, with Swift becoming the youngest ever Album of the Year winner. Swift’s third and fourth albums, 2010’s Speak Now and 2012’s Red, both sold over one million copies within the first week of their U.S release. Speak Now won two Grammy Awards, while Red’s singles “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” and “I Knew You Were Trouble” were worldwide hits. Swift’s fifth album, the pop-focused1989, was released in 2014. It sold more copies in its opening week than any album in the previous 12 years, and made Swift the first and only act to have three albums sell more than one million copies in a week. The singles “Shake It Off” and “Blank Space” both reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
On February 15th, 2015, Taylor Swift participated to the ‘Saturday Night Live’ 40th Anniversary Special along with Paul McCartney and many other guests. During the after party, she joined the stage to sing “I Saw Her Standing There” and her song “Shake It Off” joined by Paul McCartney & Jimmy Fallon, a cast member of Saturday Night Live.
Austin Butler has never been more “starstruck” than he was at Paul McCartney’s recent house party. Taylor Swift was among the A-list guests at the shindig, according to Butler, 32, who recalled the experience on the Monday, June 17 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
“Last time I saw you was at maybe the craziest party I’ve ever been to in my whole life,” Kimmel, 56, told the Elvis star. “That was insane,” said Butler of the event held at the home of McCartney, 82. “Do you want to list some of [the guests]?”
“It was a party where, like, Tom Hanks is going, ‘Oh, my God, can you believe who’s here?’ Right?” responded Kimmel. “The living Beatles, the living [Rolling] Stones, Mick Jagger, Bruce Springsteen.”
“To see Paul and Ringo [Starr] in the same room was kind of amazing,” Butler said with a smile. He also recalled how Springsteen, 74, told him a story about writing a song for Elvis Presley and sneaking onto the King’s property to convince him to record it.
Swift, 34, “was DJing at one point,” he revealed, without specifying what tunes the Grammy winner was spinning. “She has to DJ at parties now.”
Asked who he was most starstruck by — the Dune: Part Two star quipped to Kimmel, “besides you!” — Butler picked Meryl Streep. “She’s just the greatest. You know in high school, when you have a crush on somebody and they’re across the room and you don’t know how to say hello to them? That’s how it was.”
Butler then “went into Paul McCartney’s kitchen and ate some of his vegan pizza,” he recalled. When a friend insisted on introducing him to the 74-year-old Oscar winner, he added, “I couldn’t believe I was meeting Meryl Streep with Paul McCartney’s vegan pizza in my mouth.” […]
