St. Louis – As Paul arrives, so does official news from Broadcast Music Inc that ‘Yesterday’ has now had its six millionth airplay in the USA – a new world record as the most-played song ever. Meanwhile, Chuck Berry arrives backstage pre-show to rap with Paul. Later, during the concert at the Busch Memorial Stadium, Paul dedicates ‘I Saw Her Standing There’ to Berry, with this introduction: “There’s someone here in the audience tonight who I’ve been a big fan of for too many years to mention. Give a big hand to a man from around these parts, Mr Chuck Berry – he’s the greatest. Love you Chuck.”
Notes from Geoff Baker, Paul McCartney’s publicist – from Club Sandwich 66, Summer 1993
