Some songs from this concert appear on:

Paul McCartney celebrated the release of ‘Kisses on the Bottom‘ with ‘Live From Capitol Studios’, a concert performed at the legandary studios, with the cast of musicians who had joined him on the record. The concert was live-streamed on iTunes music platform. It was also released some months later on the “Live Kisses” DVD / Blu-ray.

From paulmccartney.com, February 6, 2012:

Paul will commemorate the release of his forthcoming Kisses On The Bottom (out February 7 on Hear Music / Concord) with a once in a lifetime free streaming performance taking place live at 7:00 p.m. PST Thursday 9th February, from the famed Capitol Studios where much of the new album was created. Fans can watch the intimate concert through iTunes on their Mac or PC. […]

The 9th February Capitol Studios streaming event will be the first time ever that the reverent and adventurous performances of Kisses On The Bottom will be brought to life in a live setting.

Doing this project was the most scared I have felt for years. It is nothing that I know about. It was frightening. The very first day was the worst because I didn’t know anyone. I’ve been with a band, we’ve been together for ten years, and suddenly I’m the new boy.

Paul McCartney – From For Whom The Bell Tells, December 31, 2012

It was very intimate, which was really nice actually because it was in the studio that we recorded in and that meant we were kind of at home and there were people being invited int. Everything was going great until I hit a little patch where I made a mistake and then suddenly the nerves came in. It was “My Very Good Friend The Milkman” and I had a whistling intro which I completely got wrong so I was loving it, I was Mr. Ratpack, thinking ‘this is great, I could go on forever!’ Then when I made it out onto the stage everyone was like, “aaah you’re streaming live and you just made a big mistake!” So I managed to re-group and make a joke of it and stuff, but that really made me realise what it was what I was doing. Up until then it was just an intimate gathering with a few friends playing a little bit of music but once that mistake kicked in I knew what was going on.

Paul McCartney

This concert was part of a very busy week for Paul McCartney in Los Angeles. As remembered by his publicist Stuart Bell:

Once he touched down in LA, it was quite astonishing what Paul packed into just one week And the coverage? Well, in the space of a week Paul enjoyed the sort of media attention a normal artist could only dream about getting during their entire career. During the trip, Paul was presented with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, performed a special concert which was streamed globally on iTunes, was honoured as the MusiCares Person of the Year (with the likes of Neil Young, Foo Fighters, Coldplay, James Taylor and Katy Perry paying tribute to Paul), won a Grammy and performed twice on the show. The first performance was of ‘My Valentine’ along with Diana Krall, with Joe Walsh on guitar. Then Paul closed the prestigious ceremony with ‘Golden Slumbers’, which ended with an onstage jam with Rusty, Brian, Joe Walsh, Dave Grohl and Bruce Springsteen! A true one-off moment which takes my breath away just remembering it.
