Paul McCartney’s 2024 “Got Back” tour kicked off on October 1 in Montevideo, Uruguay. In the weeks leading up to the concert, Paul and his band rehearsed in Los Angeles. From there, he gave an interview with the Uruguayan newspaper El Pais, published on September 22. Paul left Los Angeles on September 28, heading to Uruguay with a stopover in Chile.

On September 30, the day before the concert, Paul and his band held a rehearsal at the Estadio Centenario, where they performed The Beatles’ “Now And Then”. This song was featured for the first time live in the setlist the following day.

From EL PAÍS Uruguay, September 18, 2024:

Paul McCartney’s show in Uruguay is getting closer and closer. The Beatle’s third visit to Montevideo will be the biggest musical event of 2024, and preparations for his concert have already begun. This Wednesday, AM Producciones published a statement in which it announced that today began the assembly of the stage for the show that the British will offer on Tuesday, October 1 at the Centenario Stadium.

To begin the process that will take almost two weeks, 15 trucks arrived in Montevideo with first-class equipment, from sound to lights. The production will run until Saturday, September 28, and rehearsals are scheduled to begin that same day. There will be another on Sunday 29, and it is planned that on Monday 30 McCartney himself will participate in the rehearsals.

A team of 120 technicians is working on the assembly of the stage who travel with the British artist to each square, to which 14 more from the region are added to provide their services. According to AM Producciones, the entry of the equipment “is of such magnitude” that it required a reform and adaptation at gate 5 of the Centenario.

At McCartney’s request — and as on his two previous visits — a variety of vegetarian options will be offered to the public on the day of the concert, at the food stalls, but there will also be dishes that contain meat because it respects local tastes.

The production company also reported that McCartney is taking Spanish classes for the South American leg of the Got Back tour. “I want to be able to communicate with the people in the stadium. That’s why I always try to learn some local phrases that amuse and entertain the local people and us too. I like languages. And even though it’s a little bit more homework, I still love being able to communicate,” the Beatle said. […]
