To promote the theme song for the “Destiny” video game, a video where Paul McCartney appears as a hologram has been created and directed by Daniel Askill. The video was released on December 8, 2014.
The thing with the video was it was kind of difficult to think how we were going to do this, whether I would just sit down and sing the song and there would not be any connection with the game at all… Or, once I started seeing what the landscapes and the graphics and the animation were like, I started thinking “wow! great! If somehow I could be in the game”. So the idea came up that it’d be good if I was a hologram, so that’s what’s happening. I’m being turned into a hologram and I’m gonna enter the world of Destiny in its landscape.

When we were first looking at the game, we decided to start playing it. I wasn’t very good, but one of the guys – he’s a bit of a gamer – but anyway he got us through the game and there comes a point in the game where it says you will be one of the Guardians. “Design yourself”. So I designed the character, it was a female kind-of sort-of top-notch of red hair and some markings on the face so yeah if all goes according to plan we’ll go with our own design.
