“McCartney – The Album Story” is a 32-minute long film, documenting the making of Paul McCartney’s debut solo album, “McCartney“. It was released on the DVD included in the deluxe edition of the “McCartney – Archive Collection” in 2011.
The story is being told by Paul himself, supported by still images and videos as well as graphics. The soundtrack features excerpts of “Momma Miss America“, “Oo You“, “Every Night“, “Kreen-Akrore“, “Teddy Boy“, “Junk” and “Maybe I’m Amazed“.
At the time, it was really a release that was a freedom thing for me. In the heat of The Beatles’ breaking up, I just wanted to get back to absolute basics, in the same way I wanted The Beatles to go back on the road as just a little band, again trying to remember who we were, in the same way I’ve been liking the idea of the Let It Be sessions. So that was me trying to continue that vibe. The whole spirit was that it was an escape.
