Paul McCartney’s studio album “The Boys Of Dungeon Lane” was released in 2026, six years after his last, “McCartney III.” Co-produced with Andrew Watt in sessions dating back to 2021, it was announced on March 26, 2026, along with the release of its lead single, “Days We Left Behind“.
“The Boys of Dungeon Lane” is named after a road in the Liverpudlian area of Speke, and is generally inspired by McCartney’s childhood memories of Liverpool, including his enjoyment of bird-watching.
From Paul McCartney | The Boys of Dungeon Lane:
The Boys of Dungeon Lane is not only the first new solo album to be released by Paul in over five years; it is a collection of rare and revealing glimpses into memories never-before shared, along with some newly inspired love songs.
With The Boys of Dungeon Lane, Paul turns the lens inward, revisiting the formative years that shaped not only his life, but the very foundations of modern popular culture. Paul now tells the most personal story of all, his own. The Boys of Dungeon Lane is his most introspective album to date and takes the listener back to where it all began.
These new songs find Paul in a candid, vulnerable and deeply reflective mood, writing with rare openness about his childhood in post-war Liverpool, the resilience of his parents, and early adventures shared with George Harrison and John Lennon long before the world had ever heard of Beatlemania. These were the years that historians continue to examine, the quiet, unguarded days that unknowingly laid the groundwork for a cultural revolution. Paul visits them not as myths or folklore but as his own memories.
The album takes its title from one of the many standout tracks which is available now, ‘Days We Left Behind’. Dungeon Lane is a place Paul still sees when returning home serving as a symbolic gateway to a pre-fame world: afternoons by the Mersey, birdwatching book in hand, “smoky bars and cheap guitars”, and dreams not yet lived.
Welcome to The Boys of Dungeon Lane… 🐦⬛ This album is now yours. I just hope people can sit back, relax, and stick the vinyl on, or put on their headphones, play it on their phone, stream it, or whatever, and simply enjoy listening to it. That’s my aim: to bring something people can enjoy, and the more they enjoy it, the happier I am.

Things people write often do refer to the past, but it’s hard to just refer to tomorrow. We don’t know what’s gonna happen then. But the past is even just talking about yesterday. It’s full of stuff. It’s a rich place to mine for ideas.
Paul McCartney – Interview with MOJO, July 2026
I hope you fall in love with the songs and the performances on this album. I hope it takes you to a place of joy. I hope it transports you, because that’s the best thing about music; it can surprise you and suddenly take you somewhere where you think, “wow, I love being in this place.”
And, you know, because it’s an album rather than just singles, it really is a place. I think that’s why The Boys of Dungeon Lane works for me as a title, it’s somewhere you can go.
