Recording "Heart Of The Country"

For Paul McCartney

Last updated on April 14, 2021

Paul re-recorded “Heart Of The Country“, a song from his 1971 album “Ram“, at “the tail-end of 2012” (guessing in December 2012)  for a new Linda McCartney Foods advert promoting their new chilled range. Only a fragment of 44 seconds has been released on Youtube.

In Maccazine Volume 43, Issue 1, it is mentioned that the song was recorded in 2012 during sessions with Mark Ronson (which would mean January, July or September 2012). But the official text on Youtube mentions that “Paul re-recorded ‘Heart Of The Country’ at the tail-end of 2012“.

The Guardian also reports some involvement from producer Mark Ronson:

The commercial, to be screened this month on British television, has come out of a collaboration between McCartney, Elvis Costello and the producer Mark Ronson. It will also feature an animated depiction of Linda McCartney, who died in 1998.
