“Tennessee” is a rockabilly song written and recorded by Carl Perkins. Released in 1957 as the B-side to “Glad All Over,” it showcases Perkins’ signature blend of country, blues, and early rock ‘n’ roll.
According to Mark Lewisohn in “The Complete Beatles Chronicle“, The Beatles – first as The Quarrymen –performed “Blue Suede Shoes” regularly between 1957 and 1961, with John Lennon on lead vocals. However, no known recordings from that period exist.
On January 9, 1969, during the “Get Back” sessions, The Beatles played a version of the song.
