On Beatles-related news, 2016 started in March with the sad news that legendary producer George Martin passed away at age 90. In July, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr were reunited in Las Vegas to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Beatles LOVE show, by the Cirque du Soleil. In September, they were also together for the world premiere of “Eight Days A Week – The Touring Years”, the Beatles’ documentary about their career as a live band, directed by Ron Howard. The 1977 live album “Live At The Hollywood Bowl” was reissued in September as well, as a companion to the film.
New One On One tour
There was no Archive Collection released this year – even the reissue of “Flowers Of The Dirt” was announced in December, for released in March 2017. To replace, we had a new compilation – “Pure McCartney” – with a mix of remastered tracks from previous Archive Collection releases, some tracks not remastered from recent albums, and some newly remastered tracks for this project.
